The following is an extract from the catalogue prepared for Sculpture of the Inuit – Masterworks Exhbition of the Canadian Arctic, 1979. Inuit Gallery, Vancouver, B.C.

“Cornelius is the son of the carver Conlucy Niviaxie (E9-728) of Inoucdjouac. Many members o

the Niviaxie family are outstanding artists and prominent members of their community.

Cornelius is always able to achieve a good sense of motion in his carvings. The gracefulmovement of his hunters and wrestlers are not unlike those of his father. Cornelius’ themes are everyday events authentically detailed. This genre is common to the artists of Inoucdjouac and Povungnituk. Sculpture: Masterworks, 1971.
