Inuit artists love to carve birds for the tremendous challenge they represent especially when they are carved with wings open. Traditionally, birds like the ravens were powerfull shamanistic tools since the shaman could transform into one of them and seek good hunting grounds. Many artist are now known for carving amazing birds like Pudlalik Shaa and Palaya Qiatsuq from Cape Dorset.
